What we've been up to...

I have gotten around to uploading the latest pictures for February. We've had fun with our new painting supplies and just hanging around with a broomstick.

We went to the Concert at the Park again this year. It was really fun. We just head over for the last hour when the symphony plays and roll around on a blanket and eat kettle corn and then head over to the playground to swing and play in the sand. Patrick liked climbing up the hill they have next to the playground. Then we headed over to Honey Bears (for the second weekend in a row!) to have all three of us share a plate of baby back ribs. They're really really tasty. They have a ridiculous tag line though, "you don't need no teeth..." - silly and grammatically incorrect but it's true!

Lastly, I'm still plugging away on making my little recipe book on blurb. I can't wait 'til I'm done!

Funny conversations

Earlier this week we were just finished dropping off the Rug Doctor at Safeway (thanks Buster) and I was trying to decide how to keep Patrick happy - he's been teething a little this week - lots of drooling and hands in mouth and crankiness. So, I gave him these options. A scoop at Carvel, check out the local consignment kiddie store or go home and run around outside...here's how it went.

Me: Do you want to eat ice cream, play with toys or play in the dirt?
Patrick: (eyes bug out and lots of nodding)
Me: Do you want to eat ice cream, play with toys or play in the dirt?
Patrick: (long pause).......dirt.

Maybe it's a boy thing.

I picked Patrick up from his crib (we'd just woken up) and on our way to the backyard door to take the dogs outside, he saw an empty water cup.
Note: Oh, and wachhh is water - we don't know why...he enunciates most everything else.

Patrick: (pointing) Wachhh!
Me: Oh, that cup is empty. Do you want some water?
Patrick: Wachhh? No...JUICE! Orange...no...APPLE!
Me: You want apple juice?
Patrick: (knowingly with eyebrows up) I know
Me: (I look at him and smile)
Patrick: (smiles and points to the fridge)

So, we got our morning cocktail of 50/50 juice and water with a couple ice cubes in a sippy.

My mommy blog with Robin

Robin (my old college roommate from freshman year at college - Go Coronado!) and I have decided to start a mommy blog to help stay in touch better and to help each other through this new world of babydom. I'm so excited and I hope you are too. If you are a mom or know a mom who would be interested, please direct them to:

fromdormstodiapers.blogspot.com

Right now we are just emailing each other questions on topics we need help with. Robin asked the first one about how to feed her little guy, Micah, homemade baby food. Here was my response. We hope to answer/help answer our readers' questions too.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for the blog!

Nana and the light rail

Patrick and I have been enjoying great weather (before the storm came this week) playing a lot outside in the grass. We had noticed that his eczema would flare up when he was playing outside and when he was drinking cow's milk. We've done a little experiment just giving him soy milk and the eczema is better! I think we'll be waiting a bit to reintroduce cows milk and see if he tolerates it any better at that time.

Nana came to visit Friday night and Saturday morning with us. We took a trip to IKEA and Some Burros Friday night and had a great time and ate some great food - love the borracho burro! Then Saturday morning Nana wanted to try out the light rail so we parked at the Chris-town Mall and hopped on. Super clean still and pretty easy. Patrick and I might try it to pick up some veggies at the Farmers Market downtown another Saturday.

Then for lunch we met up with Aunt Katy and the kids and went to Peter Piper Pizza for some yummy pizza and fun games. Patrick especially enjoyed playing peek-a-boo with cousin Jacob!

Blurb Blog Book

I just "slurped" the contents of this blog (just '07 and '08) into a book on Blurb.

If you are interested in purchasing a book (probably just the parents - but just in case not) here is a link to the site: http://www.blurb.com/my/book/detail/567410

If you want it, the book must be purchased in a few days. I'm finally working on all our photos (since 2003!) and the Smith Family Cookbook that I've been talking about for a looooooooong time.

Hanging at the farm with Tonia

Tonia picked some veggies for me (this is the broccoli) for a little presentation I'm doing for Crooked Sky at Brophy (Sean's HS).

Makes me want to go to the beach

I saw this and it totally makes me feel ocean breezes on my face...well, not literally.

I need a pretty yellow dress and a scarf for my hair too!
